GloFouling Partnerships is a global project launched to prevent the transfer of invasive aquatic species through biofouling in some of the developing regions of the world.
Biofouling is the accumulation of marine animals, plants and algae on the surface of ships and other marine structures. When ships and structures move to new areas, these species can detach themselves, adapt to the new habitat, overcome local fauna and become invasive, with negative effects in the host ecosystem.

GloFouling Partnerships Project addresses 5 out of 17 goals.
Recreational boating and biofouling management survey
Complete the survey in order to help us produce a study on the impacts of biofouling in the recreational boating sector, and its role as a vector for invasive aquatic species.
The study will include recommendations on the best approaches to tackle biofouling in a cost-effective way for all types of sailing boats, motorboats and yachts.
Global Industry Alliance for Marine Biosafety
Calling leaders from maritime, shipping, ocean energy, aquaculture and other ocean-based industries to join this alliance to support two key IMO pressing environmental objectives via improved biofouling management: protect marine biodiversity and decarbonize shipping.
